### **Welcome to the Evolution, Ecology, and Environment (E3) REU!**

We are seeking rising sophomores, juniors and seniors majoring in the life sciences who would like to join a Research Experience for Undergraduates program based in Departments of [Organismic and Evolutionary Biology](https://oeb.harvard.edu/) and [Human Evolutionary Biology](https://heb.fas.harvard.edu/) at Harvard University. Members of the program will enjoy cutting edge research experiences within the context of a strong mentorship community made up of faculty, graduate students, and peers. In addition, they will participate in a professional development program that is aimed at preparing students for the graduate school application process, building confidence to succeed in graduate school, and exploring long-term career opportunities. These professional development activities will include attending the annual [Leadership Alliance National Symposium](https://theleadershipalliance.org/leadership-alliance-national-symposium-0) (LANS) research and mentoring conference. The GEO REU is part of a larger umbrella program, hosted by the Harvard GSAS called [Summer Research Opportunities at Harvard (SROH)](https://projects.iq.harvard.edu/sroh).

**Please Note:** This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a PhD in the fields of evolution and/or ecology. We do not accept students whose goal is to pursue a MD, MD/PhD, VM, or DDS degree. If your interests are more aligned with biomedical research, we recommend that you explore other research program opportunities based at the Harvard Medical School (e.g., [Summer Scholars](https://scholars.hms.harvard.edu/info), [HMS MedSci](https://www.hmsmedscience.org/summer-program-overview) or [GSAS Summer Programs](https://gsas.harvard.edu/programs/recruitment-and-outreach/summer-research-programs)) or through [Leadership Alliance](https://theleadershipalliance.org/summer-research-early-identification-program).
